About me
I sort out the ideas. Together we tell them.
I’m Daniel Matilla, a journalist, storyteller and strategic communication expert. I work from Barcelona and have spent more than ten years helping NGOs, foundations, public bodies, social impact companies and European consortia explain what they do.
My background is in journalism, education and critical discourse analysis. That is why I pay as much attention to how things are said as to what is said.
Purpose drives me across very different registers: from the rigour of Brussels to the emotion of a story.

Journalist
I trained to ask questions and report what happens. I’m a registered journalist, a member of the Solidarity Journalism Group at the Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya, and I led the ED Futura podcast.

EU communicator
I’ve led communication and dissemination for EU-funded scientific sustainability projects. Websites, materials, videos, events and reporting.

Trainer
I designed and taught the plain language course at La Moncloa, rated 4.9 out of 5. I teach on the professional branding master’s at EAE Business School.

Documentary maker
I directed and wrote the documentaries La Voz del Año and Un Día de Lucha. I chair Dos Mesas, an association for storytelling committed to human rights.
What I believe
Clear is fairer.
If it is not understood, it does not reach those who need it most.
I listen first.
The story is already there. My job is to find it.
